Is there a talent crisis in NE Ohio? What creative solutions are you applying now and will apply in the near future to ameliorate these problems?

3rd Annual IT Career Camp Updated: May 02, 2012

IT Career Camp (ITCC) is a free event that places 30 high school students into teams that will work together and compete against each other in a week long competition. Throughout the course of this camp, students will learn about various technologies, and what IT/IS professionals do on a day-to-day basis. The event will take place at The University of Akron.

The 3rd ITCC (2012) will include activities with Westfield Group, NASA Glenn, The J.M. Smucker Co., Goodyear Tire company, Knotice, Timken and Revol Wireless. The students will also participate in other fun activities and will enjoy lunch in various locations around UA. The week will culminate with team presentations, awards, and dinner with the students and their families. Scholarships will be presented to the winning team.

The University of Akron MIS Students wins first place in a competition Posted: Apr 17, 2012

We are very pleased to announce that our team of four MIS majors did very well at the first ever Information Systems Project and Case Competition hosted by Ball State University in Muncie Indiana (one of our peer institutions).
Our team took FIRST PLACE in the PROJECT CATEGORY, FIRST PLACE in the PRESENTATION CATEGORY, and THIRD PLACE OVERALL. Congratulations to the four senior MIS Majors who independently conceived of their project, developed it on their own during the spring semester, and successfully presented and defended it against 11 other teams. They are:
